Small changes in diet could help you live healthier, more sustainably

Study by University of Michigan

I have always believed that we are given choices everyday that can save the earth and keep us healthy. I deeply believe that those choices ABSOLUTELY have a POWERFUL EFFECT even though we are just one human being in the midst of millions.

Yoga taught me to look at life from the concept of energy. This is another concept that was called unscientific but scientistists are beginning to realize it is not such a crazy concept at all.

Through Yoga I learned to look at what I ate from the concept of giving me energy; health; wellness. I learned to look at what I did from the same concept – was that activity going to give me energy; health; wellness. I found this concept very beneficial for my earth choices – those choices I make in my day to day living that affect the earth – was that choice going to give the earth energy; health; wellness.

If we could follow that lone tenet of life think of the consequences – healthy earth population; healthy earth.

In this study these scientists look at what you eat from a ramifications point of view. Eating a hot dog could cost you 36 minutes of healthy life, while choosing to eat a serving of nuts instead could help you gain 26 minutes of extra healthy life, according to a University of Michigan study.

I love how they looked at it from both a personal health and an environmental point of view.
